Steps To Eternity The Five Senses

The gifts of sight, hearing, touch, taste and smell are free gifts God has given us to help us understand his love in every capacity of our being. Physical treasures feed these senses, illustrating how God's gifts of life and health are the greatest blessings man can physically possess.Lust is the insatiable craving to feed these senses with things we know are wrong, wanting them even though our conscience tells us we shouldn't. Greed is man's unquenchable desire to have everything he sees.

Pride is the force that produces both of these passions.Pride is always at the root of attempting to receive some reward for ones self. In every instance, the underlying psychology of greed reverts back to the "I" syndrome, hoping to obtain some form of personal gratification through one of the five human senses.Just as the physical food we ingest can produce either good or poor physical health, the food we absorb into our systems by means of feeding these senses can likewise produce either good or poor spiritual health. Long-term results of filling these senses with the wrong provisions can be very damaging. In contrast, humility is choosing to please these five senses of God instead of gratifying our own.

Revelation 4:11.For thy pleasure they are and were created. We were created to bring God pleasure, to make him happy. The purpose of mankind is to love the Lord with all our heart and with all our soul.

This is what brings pleasure to our Creator and that is why it is the first and greatest commandment. It is our duty to please God's five senses by our works:.1.

The prayers of the saints offer a sweet smell to his nostrils
2. Our good works are pleasing in his sight
3. Our thanksgiving and praise is a joyful noise to him
4. Our reaching out for his hand is pleasing to his touch
5. Our acceptance of his Son is as a taste of sweet wine to him.

Zechariah 7:9-10.Thus speaketh the Lord of hosts, saying, Execute true judgment, and shew mercy and compassions every man to his brother: and oppress not the widow, nor the fatherless, the stranger, nor the poor; and let none of you imagine evil against his brother in your heart.Zechariah 8:16.These are the things that ye shall do; Speak ye every man the truth to his neighbor, execute the judgment of truth and peace in your gates?.

The greatest gifts we can give the Lord are our love, thanksgiving and praise. These are represented by the gold, frankincense and myrrh brought to baby Jesus upon His first arrival. These gifts are only brought by the wise. They are unseen, spiritual offerings we present to our unseen God. They are sacrifices of faith.

By these methods we are choosing to please God's senses by putting him first in our lives with hope, in faith, of receiving the long-term rewards he has promised us in the kingdom, instead of momentary pleasures of little consequence in this life.
