Do you ever lose track of what you set out to do or get distracted by negative intrusive thoughts that you need to continually push out of your mind?.Do you ever find yourself being seduced into drifting in to a negative mood or attitude about yourself, your life or others around you by that same negative self talk?.Do you find that your life is put on hold or that there are significant periods of time when you feel unproductive because that same negative self talk engages you in feelings of anger, helplessness, fear, hopelessness, despair, self doubt, inadequacy, indecisiveness, self pity etc.?.Most people whether they are aware of it or not, have gone down this road and many continue to do so. Quietening the mind in such a fast paced world seems to be becoming increasingly more difficult.
Many have turned to yoga, meditation and similar practices to try and achieve some degree of inner quietude and peace. In my view such modalities are technique that attempt to stem the flow of negative self talk rather than eliminate it altogether. Clear evidence of this is the fact that one must continue the practice i.e. spend tine at it, in order to accrue ongoing benefits.Although the various practices yield benefits such as reduced stress, inner peace, well being etc.
they in effect also take up your time. In other words it's like replacing cigarettes with nicotine gum; in either case you still have the nicotine inside. Is it possible to get to the root cause of negative self talk? Is it possible to eliminate it altogether once and for all?.The answers to both these questions are YES!.
Negative self talk is the result of unconsciously stored past events that go unresolved and that break into consciousness while you are trying to live your life in the present. This often happens when you are stressed or tired.Normally the tendency is for an individual to suppress uncomfortable past memories into their unconscious mind i.e. make it unconscious, believing that by doing so they will feel better. Unfortunately it takes energy to do this.
When you get tired or stressed your energy wanes and this draws on your overall energy resources. This makes one vulnerable to having the unconsciously held memories/beliefs/emotions re- emerge into the conscious mind. This is felt and experienced as intrusive negative self talk. This then further undermines you and puts an added drain on your energy stores.Another way of saying all of this is that by "pushing" negative events into the unconscious you are essentially keeping within your mental/emotional body material that is parasitic to your vital life energy and therefore toxic to you.
By employing meditation or other modalities to anchor yourself in a temporary state of inner peace what you are doing is simply restoring your energy resources so that you can once again hold the offending material at bay for a while longer. It is however still present and you are still vulnerable to it!.Doesn't it make more sense to eradicate it from within once and for all? Well of course but most individuals might think that this is not even possible. After all they might say: Isn't this who I am? , Isn't this part of my identity as an individual? Etc.Well my answer to that is:.Not only is it possible it is imperative to completely release it if you want to fully experience who you really are!.
